Tae Kwon Do

Taekwondo is a traditional Korean martial art, characterized by its emphasis on head-height kicks, jumping and spinning kicks, and fast kicking techniques. Taekwondo emphasizes kicking because the leg is the longest and strongest tool the martial artist has readily available. While punching techniques are used in sparring and forms, the legs are trained in much greater detail. Because of this, Taekwondo is popular with both men and women independent of age or size. Speed, endurance, grace, and flexibility are all of benefit to a Taekwondo artist.

Kumdo

Kumdo is a martial art that deals exclusively with sword work. This area of study use both sparring and forms (hyung) to help the student understand this traditional weapon. Sparring emphasizes awareness, acute observation, and perserverance along with controlled, quick, and precise movements in such a way that allows anyone of any age, size, or gender to be competitive with anyone else. Timing and skill are key to all martial arts, but are epitomized in Kumdo study.

Providing expert instruction in the arts of Taekwondo and Kum Do in Coralville, Iowa City and surrounding area’s. Mireu’s Tae Kwon Do, Kum Do classes offer an excellent all around family activity. There’s no better way to give the gift of long healthy life. Add significant days, months, even years to your life by learning from the sages.
